Baby O was a full month old when her daddy got back from sea, so we opted for a family lifestyle session instead of a traditional newborn session. I’m so glad we captured these fresh new baby moments in the place they brought her home to. What great memories!
I don’t get a lot of couples as clients which is a shame – I LOVE working with them! I think a lot of people don’t feel like their relationship is special enough to document without the added excitement of a pregnacy or babies or children. Don’t wait! Document your life now, so you can look back and remember it once the big stuff does happy.
I love this girl. Her mother asked for birthday photos AND something for the Christmas card, so we had an awesome time knocking out two sessions at once.
Darling Baby A was such a joy to photograph! I had a wonderful time bonding with his whole family during our session, especially since my own newborn came as my assistant. It turns out big brother and my baby share the same name!
I’m waaaay behind on blogging my sessions (I’ve already done this little man’s 1 year photos!) but I loved some of his 6 month shots too much to skip.
From their maternity to their Fresh 48 I love these clients. So of course their baby was an angel while I was photographing her.
Newborn sessions can be long and exhausting, although the whole POINT is to exhaust the baby so they’re nice and relaxed. That’s when you can get those tiny details and sleepy smiles. There’s nothing about brand new babies that isn’t amazing to capture.
An outdoor maternity session in the middle of winter can be risky. Even if it’s not freezing cold, there’s a good chance it might be raining or cloudy. Plus the sun sets before dinner and you don’t want to starve a pregnant woman.
But this couple are amazingly good sports, super cooperative and, oh yeah, crazy good looking too. I had an amazing time working with them at the Conn College Arboretum and we hit the evening light jackpot, so this dreamy session came out exactly how we had all imagined.
Do I have a new favorite kind of photo session? Why yes, yes I do! A Fresh 48 is an in-hospital newborn session to capture those first brand new moments as your family grows. It’s different from birth photography because it’s much lower pressure for both you and your photographer. I’m happy to incorporate siblings and family members who are meeting the new baby for the first time, as well as plenty of shots of mom and dad.
I absolutely adore getting to know my clients well enough that they welcome me into their hospital room to show off their gorgeous newborn. Making new friends and sharing their joy is as much a part of photography for me as actually taking and editing the pictures.
This is Baby Girl N’s Fresh 48 session, shot in the hospital in New London, CT. I did her mother’s maternity session a few months ago and her official newborn session just a few days afterward. I can’t wait to share both of those on the blog too!
Oh man, I am so far behind in blogging my sessions! I have a whole collection of gorgeous holiday-themed photos ranging from newborns to kids to families and I haven’t shared any of them. I’m going to catch soon, I swear! But until then, here’s my most recent baby, Liam. His mom’s maternity/family session is just a few posts back. These newborn photos turned out so great I had a hard time narrowing down what to share!
This was so much FUN! A little lifestyle, a few posed shots of the birthday boy, and an adorable smiley family willing to walk all over Downtown Mystic to get as many locations as we could before the sun went down.
